Before we left Echo Lodge, we wandered through the Kitchen Garden behind the house. Apples, pears, plums, soft fruits, herbs, grapes, and kiwi fruit are just some of the items grown on site. All of the produce is put to good use in the Restaurant (The Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge), and the flowers are to decorate the house, restaurant tables, and herb flowers adorn some of the dishes.
What would I give to have just a portion of this fine garden (and the polytunnel too). Having said that, it would be Hubs who would be working the land and the polytunnel, and I’d be standing around admiring the flowers, enjoying the various harvests, and directing proceedings with all the gusto of a back-seat gardener 😉 This wonderful, peaceful garden is private, but open to all residents of the house. Here is a short snapshot of our wander through.
