Restaurants

Overview – Eastern Seaboard Bar and Grill, Drogheda, Co. Louth

As the Christmas party and dining out season is upon us, even in these recessionary times, restaurants are busier than ever.

One of a number of favourite local restaurants of ours is the Eastern Seaboard Bar & Grill, which I first wrote about back in August 2011, is no exception.  Having said that, it doesn’t have to be the the party season for this gem to be full to the rafters.

I love the original Christmas decoration ideas, such as the large, white light-covered twigs, shaped into stars which adorn the windows. Sprigs of Ivy in little pots on the tables, and lots of candles, all add to the festive atmosphere, and there are some very charming reindeer in the main dining room.  You will just have to visit to see them for yourself!

We booked our table for 5.30pm on Sunday 2nd December, and, as I walked in, noticed they were almost full! The staff were in top form, and nothing phased them.  Service was smooth, and even though they were under pressure with such a full dining room, you would never know it.

As I’ve said before in other posts regarding restaurants, it is a joy when there is no salt and pepper on the table, as the food is properly seasoned.  You can, however, request same, and it’s not a problem.   Here is a sample of what we tried.  Always a pleasure to visit, and if ever you are around this way, you should too!  Booking is advisable.
Simple, but festive table decorations

Potted Annagassan Crab with Toasts (from the Specials Board)

  1. Thanks so much, Móna, I appreciate that 🙂 You would be most welcome if you make it up here, and would be most annoyed if you did not give us a shout 😉 We would have a fine old time, for sure 🙂
